When Squirrels go bad

I happened to catch a few minutes of Ice Age today and it made me think of this doodle which I did a little bit ago. Even though this reminds me of the squirrel from Ice Age it wasn't my inspiration for the drawing. My favorite drawings, like this one always come from my imagination.

This isn't the best squirrel ever, but I like the situation. For some reason the thought of a ninja squirrel just seems plain funny to me. I thought the cobra logo on the human ninja turned out well considering the pencil I was using at the time.

The story in this scene is that the ninja has been sent on a mission to steal the nut from the squirrel. This image captures the moment as the ninja jumps out of the bushes and surprises the squirrel.

How To Draw 101 Funny People

I came across How To Draw 101 Funny People last week. It has a nice variety of cartoon characters. I always like books with a bunch of variety because it gives me ideas on how to draw different styles of beards, noses, eyes, hands, etc.

I'm not a big fan of trying to draw exactly what someone else drew. I try to take the artists style and see how it fits into my doodles. I prefer the cartoon style over realism.

So far I've drawn the viking, roman soldier and the astronaut. I changed the viking a little from how he was drawn in the book and I like how it turned out. There are a few small issues I have with it though. The cap seems a bit lopsided, and the sword doesn't match with the hand. I'm hopeful that version 2 and 3 will turn out a lot better.

Doggie Dash

The Oregon Humane Society is holding a fund raiser Saturday, May 10th at Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregon. The Doggie Dash looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Pirates

Does The Goonies count as a pirate movie? If so that's my favorite pirate movie of all times. Enjoy a couple of pirate doodles from this week.

I ran out of space on the right side of the page for this one, so the parrot got squished a bit. It didn't come out too badly though.

I tried to make this one look like someone I know who is a big fan of Talk Like A Pirate Day. The Pilot wheel and anchor turned out alright.

Ahoy matey!
